Letter: Haggis hunt

I WAS pleased to read that rural affairs secretary Richard Lochhead has invited American officials over here to try reverse the US's 40-year ban on haggis (your report, 24 January).

It has always astounded me that people will eat all manner of strange foodstuffs over there but will wrinkle up their noses at the cleanliness of something we've been scoffing down with no problem for many years.

Does anyone know if we export vegetarian haggis? It might be a good "gateway" product.
