Letter: Grounded by fees

Congratulations to Edinburgh on receiving the "Best European Airport" award your report, 18 June).

However, BAA and its franchises also deserve a creativity award for new and novel ways of ripping off its "flying turkeys".

Not content with charging 21.50 for over 12 hours parking, the operator has added a 65p "processing fee" to the parking transaction. A request for an explanation for this additional fee has been ignored. If the Competition Commission continues to dally in breaking BAA's stranglehold on Scottish airports, then - combined with the air passenger duty hike - Scotland may well be joining Libya as a "no-fly zone".
