Letter: Garden of delight

I was fascinated by the recent BBC2 programme presented by horticulturist Monty Don which featured spectacular Italian gardens. One of the gardens visited was that built by Emperor Hadrian.

A garden historian explained that the aqueduct was long enough and wide enough to accommodate boats on which the Emperor's friends and guests would have enjoyed feasts and orgies. Perhaps this is what Sir Ian Wood has in mind for Union Terrace Gardens in Aberdeen.
