Letter: Games danger

The current Commonwealth Games crisis is frustrating, not least because it could have been avoided.

Safeguarding the Commonwealth Games brand, India's reputation and the future equity of the Games and host cities - a particular priority here given Glasgow 2014 - should surely have been at the heart of the contract between the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) and its host city organisers.

If the organisers pull through this and there are no further major incidents, the brand equity of the event and the host city may pick up.

Glasgow will be ready on time, and hopefully spectator interest and sponsor support will have also been won back by 2014.
