Letter: Football shame

Your front page (12 May) says it all with a photograph of a football supporter attacking Neil Lennon, the manager of Celtic Football Club at Tynecastle on Wednesday night.

This is yet another sickening and sad reflection of what football has become in Scotland with violence evident at all levels and referees ready to withdraw their services.

The problems with violence in Scottish football have been identified for years now but we seem to be no nearer finding solutions to this appalling behaviour which has absolutely nothing to do with sport.

It must leave younger supporters bewildered when seeing violence like this week after week bringing the game into total disrepute.
