Letter: Flying the flag

Flying the flag I have noticed the increasing use of a version of the Union Flag on which the St Andrew's cross has been omitted and the flag is made up of shades of red. I am Scottish and I'm proud to be British, but I do not wish to see the flag of the Union being bastardised.
