Letter: Decide now

SOME would seem to have us believe that the government is trying to ride roughshod over the rights of the Scottish people to self-determination.

But the Prime Minister is on record as saying that it is for Scots to determine their own future and the government has repeatedly expressed its resolve that the referendum will ask a clear question under the rule of law and the supervision of the Electoral Commission.

All that seems perfectly reasonable. As for the timing of the event, are we seriously expected to endure two-and-a-half more years of this disruptive uncertainty before we get the chance to vote?

For all our sakes, get on with it.
