Letter: Cost of ID cards

IT IS mind-boggling that it is costing the current government £2.6 million to scrap the ID card scheme started by the Labour administration (your report, 17 March).

It seems like such an appalling waste of money in these difficult times. It's enough to make you hope the Tories stay in power, just so the whole process doesn't start all over again.
