Letter: Conflicting view

I NOTED the curious comments made by Michael Kelly on what he sees as a lack of support by the SNP for the establishment of an international centre for conflict resolution in Scotland (Comment, 31 August).

Such a statement beggars belief in that it was the SNP that proposed the establishment of such a centre, most recently in its general election manifesto, with plans to establish a "Scottish Centre for Reconciliation and Conflict Resolution" to promote peaceful alternatives to armed conflict.

It is, of course, welcome to see a former Labour MP, Des Browne, now jumping on the bandwagon, but Mr Kelly must give recognition and praise to what has been long-established SNP policy.
