Letter: Capital horror

Edinburgh is a beautiful city at all times, but especially just now with the trees so prettily arranged with lights, the big wheel and the skating rink, the German market twinkling in the dusk and the shops welcoming one in with their good widow displays, except for one.

All Saints on Princes Street has its headless mannequins modelling their clothes, hanging with chains around their necks so that the feet dangle at eye level to the shopper on the pavement. Surely this is not the message of Christmas, which I thought was to bring happiness, goodwill and peace, not one of misery and horror for so many people.
