Letter: Cabs in cahoots

What can be done to educate those many taxi drivers who seem to persist in gridlocking Edinburgh's Waverley Station even when the special electronic sign at the top of the ramp clearly flashes up the message "Taxi rank full"?

A recent evening was particularly bad, with 90 per cent of the traffic in there being taxis. The few private cars that went down the ramp couldn't get through, visiting cars were trapped inside, and rail passengers couldn't get across the station.

Can't they understand English? Or is the sign too small? Or should opticians be hired by the drivers through their association? Or, is it simply good for taxi business?

I'm sure it's not a new problem, but this was serious chaos, which probably has to be blamed entirely on those men in cahoots.
