Letter: Boundary wins

I disagree with Brian Monteith's claim that Labour will be "the main beneficiary" of boundary changes introduced for next year's Holyrood elections (Comment, 30 August).

The Labourites will lose a seat in Glasgow due to a reduction in the number of seats in the city, while the Nats should win the newly-created constituency in Angus, giving them an extra first-past-the-post seat. Mr Monteith is also incorrect to claim that SNP support is "falling", since the most recent opinion polls point to a rise in SNP voting intentions, making next year's contest neck-and-neck.
