Letter: Booze example

I find it most alarming that a soaring number of young Scottish people need liver transplants. Health minister Nicola Sturgeon seems to be of the opinion that price control is the answer to this most serious problem.

In all the TV soaps in this country, the local pub is where everything seems to be happening, with the result that the drink industry must be laughing all the way to the bank with the free publicity it gets.

Almost all the characters seem to drink and how often have I heard one say "let's get drunk"?

Surely in light of the country's binge-drinking epidemic, our politicians should be insisting that a few of the characters in each soap should be teetotal, so as to set an example to the young viewers that it's cool not to drink?
