Letter: 'Big Society' acts

Are you bothered about massive rail fare hikes? Don't go to work and explain to your employer that you simply can't afford to.

Fed up with petrol price hikes? Don't drive to work and explain ditto. If the VAT increases bother you, simply refuse to buy the "big ticket" consumer rubbish you don't need anyway. Perhaps you are annoyed that your council is squandering millions on useless schemes that benefit no one? Stop paying them to do so.

Do you vote every four years or so and then complain about the inadequacy of those you voted for? Stop voting.

Maybe you are tired of reading about greedy bankers' bonuses paid by your taxes? Stop using credit or refuse to pay (like they do). Take your wages out immediately and pay everything in cash.

The "Big Society" does indeed have a voice, but it does not lie with the politicians and "business leaders" who got us into this mess. Is it not time that we, the "Big Society" (that's you and I), stood up and said enough? If we, the "Big Society", took measures such as these you would soon have the CBI and business leaders' bleating to government to really change things - and things would change.
