Letter: Arc of prosperity

Journalists and other commentators continue to mock the "arc of prosperity" (your report, 30 August), but the fact remains that according to both International Monetary Fund and World Bank estimates for 2009, Norway has a GDP per capita wealth more than twice as high as the UK.

Despite addressing their economic problems, both Ireland and Iceland also had a higher wealth index than the UK in 2009.

I for one would not deride these small countries as we in Scotland still await the real pain of the insolvent UK's economic failures.
