Letter: Animals aren't gay

The latest furore over allegedly gay animals (your report, 23 November) is an irrelevance.

Previous cases cited as homosexual bonding between penguins, for example, have later been considered by scientists to be a manifestation of loneliness rather than homosexuality.

Gay campaigners may peer eagerly into every zoo cage in the land in hope of glimpsing something that vaguely resembles homosexual behaviour, but such observations are irrelevant. Human morality cannot be derived from animal behaviour.
