Letter: Alcohol policy

Labour MSP Jackie Baillie (your report, 20 September) may well be right to ask the SNP government to legislate for a limit on caffeine levels in alcoholic drinks.

It would be helpful, however, if she could also get her party to support the Scottish Government's efforts to legislate for a 45p per unit minimum retail price for alcoholic drinks. No single measure is likely to solve our alcohol problems, but each of these measures may be helpful. The medical profession and the police appear to support minimum pricing. Is the only real argument against it that it is advocated by the SNP?
