Letter: Ad-driven

The views from the North Berwick bus should have included the beautiful "blues" of the Forth and "greens" of the East Lothian countryside. Instead, an "Ad" for a local Further Education College darkened its two large windows, featured a footballer and, oddly enough, promised to "Brighten your Future" .

At Princes Street stops, double decker buses quickly form a massive continuous billboard, which cuts out the marvellous view of Edinburgh Castle. Instead we must scan "appeals" by the "Space Chimps" "'Tooth Fairy", "Summer Postcode Rollover", "Rocky Horror Show" and "Robin Hood".

Meantime, at the foot of the Mound, the sparkling new, four-section tram stands pristine and waiting to go. Could the appropriate authorities please let us know their costed plans? Simple, attractive design or Ad Man's Dream?
