Letter: Access all areas - including Oban

RESPONDING to John McTernan's piece on the floundering Labour Party (Insight, 31 October), I take exception to him describing Oban as "inaccessible".

True, we cannot be reached by motorway and are further than half an hour from the Central Belt but we can be reached by road, rail, sea and air and remain a popular destination for those who appreciate Scotland doesn't stop at the Highland Line.

I suspect the reason our beautiful town was chosen as the venue for the Scottish Labour Party conference was that the Corran Halls are small enough to accommodate the party faithful, most of the telephone boxes having been removed.

Mhairi Ross, Oban
