Letter: A bridge too far?

RATHER than being "dull" or "lacking in imagination", the name Forth Replacement Crossing (your report, 12 February) is an inspirational choice by the SNP government. It has managed to get the population agonising over the name of the bridge, thereby diverting debate away from the excessive build price and the need for a replacement bridge in the first place.

OH COME on everybody, can't you see that they are going to call the new bridge "Salmond's Replacement's Crossing". Or a "Bridge Too Far-Fetched"?

SURELY there is only one logical name: The Fifth Bridge: After "forth" comes fifth. It is also numerically accurate; two at Kincardine, two at South Queensferry and now this one. Further, its humour competes with the Clyde's "Squinty Bridge".
