Lethal Aintree

The Grand National race organisers who are reporting “no deaths” in the weekend’s race conveniently fail to mention that the same course killed two horses just last week.

In 2012, Aintree was the most lethal of all of Britain’s racecourses, claiming the lives of six horses in just eight days of 
racing.

And what about the future of the horses that didn’t die on the course? Perhaps they’ll end up 
in burgers, since one of the slaughtermen caught up in the horsemeat scandal is contracted to remove horses from Aintree.

This cruelty will only end when the public realises that there is no such thing as a “harmless flutter” and stops funding the cruel and exploitative horse-racing industry.
