Labour rejected

In his article, “Labour big beasts face extinction” (29 April), Andrew Whitaker completely fails to understand the message of the polls. What would be the use of saving Douglas Alexander’s political career so that Scotland could have a Scot in any future Labour Cabinet?

The message of the polls seems to be that Scotland has rejected everything that Douglas Alexander and New Labour stood for: an illegal war in Iraq, regime change that made bad situations worse in every foreign policy decision they took and the continuation and proposed replacement, at vast cost, of Trident, while people in Mr Alexander’s constituency rely on food banks.

Douglas Alexander as foreign secretary? Thanks, but no thanks.
