Labour goes left

One has to admire Jim Murphy (your report, 5 January). With the Nationalists branding him, amongst other things, a “red Tory” he has shown this week that Scottish Labour will fight for votes in 2015 and 2016 on firm Labour ground – education and the NHS.

Taxing mansions in the south-east of England to fund reductions in healthcare inequality in Scotland can only be offered by Labour.

Likewise, recognising that reversing the SNP’s cuts to our colleges is key to reducing inequality in Scotland will be music to the ears of traditional Labour voters who were tempted by the Yes proposition.

Will the SNP dare to oppose these policies of the left which expose their own shortcomings so vividly?
