Labels gone nuts

On a recent visit to the pub, we purchased some salted peanuts to accompany our pints. These were in transparent plastic containers with a label clearly stating that they were “salted peanuts”.

This label also bore the phrase: “May contain nuts.”

I am not sure which aspect concerns me more – the need to warn people that a container of nuts might contain exactly that or the possibility that it might not. It’s enough to drive me to drink.
