Just not politics

George Kerevan (Perspective, 9 July) reports the Common Weal “movement” is considering standing candidates in the 2016 Holyrood elections. As he states, the Common Weal project is part of the Jimmy Reid Foundation. However, at no time have we discussed, far less agreed to stand candidates anywhere.

The Foundation is a think tank and advocacy group; standing candidates would require us registering as a political party contrary to our objectives. The Foundation will not be standing candidates in elections.
