It’s democracy

Jim Sillars (Letters, 22 December) poses the question: “Suppose an England-only provision would inflict further pain and misery on England and an SNP vote could prevent it.

“On what moral grounds could the SNP abstain?”

The answer is, on democratic grounds. The SNP should abstain on the basis that the English should get the policies England votes for, just as the Scots should get the policies Scotland votes for.

It is not for the Scots to save the English from themselves, even if that was possible.
