It doesn't add up

Alexander McKay (Letters, 15 April) says 90 per cent of the voters do not wish a return of Scotland's independence.

But do all unionist voters object to independence? Polls have indicated they do not. Do all SNP voters want Scottish independence? Those same polls have indicated they do not. Are all non-voters opposed to Scottish independence? We do not know, but it is highly doubtful. It seems to me a more accurate figure than Mr McKay's 90 per cent would be 25 to 30 per cent.
