Island lament

I TAKE issue with the phrase “on Inchkeith Island in Fife” (“Lost secrets of our final stand against WWI invasion”, 10 February). We don’t say Harris Island or Lewis Island, so why say Inchkeith Island?

“Inch” comes from the Gaelic for “island, and most of your readers will already be aware that Inchkeith,
Inchcolm, etc are islands in the Forth (not in Fife, which was still a land-mass and not a stretch of water the last time I looked).
