Martin Crewe, director of Barnardo’s, Scotland wrote in support of The Children and Young People (Scotland) Bill, specifically citing the “named person” provision having been implemented with great success in Highland Council and urging ministers and MSPs to “seize the opportunity” (Letters, 9 May).

I feel it is disingenuous of Mr Crewe and your publication not to mention anywhere in this article that he is deputy chair of the Scottish Government Getting It Right For Every Child (Girfec) Programme Board and has been a leading contributor to the Early Years Framework for Scotland.

He was, therefore, instrumental in establishing the very programmes his article supports. At the end of the article he is merely cited as director of Barnardo’s Scotland.
