Insult to injury

At LAST week’s First Minister’s Questions Johann Lamont said that Scots were “not genetically programmed to make political decisions”.

Was she thinking of Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling when she made that deeply insulting statement?

Or Donald Dewar and John Smith?

Or, perhaps more likely, herself and her front bench.

I wonder what Scotland’s socialist pioneers like Keir Hardie and John McLean would think of a supposedly radical left-wing movement being the only one in history to tell its own people they were not clever enough to rule themselves. Especially one that has supported the independence of just about everybody else in the world.
