Another of the “56” – this time Falkirk East MP Martyn Day – adds his voice to those calling for a second referendum being included in the SNP manifesto for the 2016 elections.

Speaking to the Independence Live website he explains he does not want to “rush into another referendum”.

Presumably he prefers to hold it like a sword of Damocles over the Scottish people, as he and his colleagues address the need to get “elderly pensioners and older women” on side and overcoming concerns about “currency arguments or business scares”.

He speaks of how the nationalist cause might be helped by a “divisive EU referendum”.

What strange times we live in, when an elected representative can speak so openly of ignoring the will of the people of Scotland as expressed in the recent referendum result, looking forward to stirring up all the old arguments and even hoping for division in society to aid their cause.

Meanwhile, Scottish health, education and emergency services are all in varying degrees of crises or under-performance – failing the most disadvantaged in society more than most.

Yet, the majority of our MPs and MSPs seem to care little for all that. Instead they want to revisit what was so recently settled, to look for ways to provoke division and so further their separatist dream.

Some dream this. It seems more like a nightmare vision to me.
