IMF role

In response to Ellis Thorpe (Letters, 17 July), increasing taxes can hardly be described as “market fundamentalism”.

Indeed, if words are to have any meaning such policies must be described as state fundamentalism.

Given that the IMF is funded by money expropriated from the world’s productive citizens in order to fund irrational government intervention programmes and mercantilist economic policies, this is entirely appropriate for this anti-capitalist organisation.
