Ill-judged remark

DOES Dr A McCormick (Letters, 10 January) understand the implications of his statement that Alex Salmond's rhetoric is "reminiscent of Gerry Adams"? Most of us would expect a "Dr" to exhibit better judgment.

Dr McCormick dislikes Salmond's use of the phrase "the Westminster government" – this is common usage in Scotland by politicians of all parties. Dr McCormick complains that Alex Salmond "marches against firms". Salmond walked in Kilmarnock to protest at the closure of Diageo, so did politicians of other parties most notably Des Browne, one time Labour Secretary of State for Scotland and Annabel Goldie, leader of the Conservative party in Scotland.
