Hunting myth

The hunting of big cats in South Africa is not to be outlawed (your report, 14 December). Under the proposed new legislation, a lion that has been captivebred must be released into a "reasonable area" and may only be hunted after six months. This approval for "canned hunting" is contrary to claims that this industry "will be shut down".
