House price tales

Your headline and first sentence said: “Capital house prices slip back two years – and there’s worse to come” and “House prices in Scotland’s capital have fallen to 2009 levels after the latest falls wiped out the gains made last year” (your report, 7 October).

Maybe that is what the ESPC thinks but here is the story written as a potential first-time buyer might see it.

“Capital house prices return to levels of two years ago – and there’s better to come” and “House prices in Scotland’s capital have returned to 2009 levels after a brief surge in inflation last year was corrected by recent price changes.”

It’s the way you tell ’em.
