Holyrood woes

You report (13 January) that “new figures revealed that the repair bill for the (Scottish Parliament) building has topped £140,000 per month”.

In February 2007, you printed a letter of mine which read: “The admission that Holyrood has cost taxpayers £414m, and that all involved have been rewarded for incompetence comes as no surprise. But that is not the end of the cost taxpayers will have to bear. As with all way-out innovative designs, it will be afflicted with endless maintenance and remedial costs.

“Hence, in addition to being an eyesore, Holyrood will also be a perpetual financial running sore.”

I think I might be permitted the luxury of saying: “I told you so”!
