Hold fast

I am a New Zealander living in Australia, hoping and praying that Great Britain will hold together and that the United Kingdom in its full strength will continue to play its part in world affairs. (How important the Scots are to that fullness!)

The international role of the UK and its friends may not have been performed to perfection over the past couple of decades. Armed force would have been better withheld, perhaps, than exercised in some instances; but for nations such as mine, the voice of the old “mother country” still counts for something good in these unsettled times.

I will be glad if Great Britain, unbroken, continues on the Security Council of the United Nations and if Scotland continues to speak to the world as part of a big nation.
