History lesson
Dr McCormick (Letters, 21 March) invites corrections of his assertion that “the UK is the only European country that has never in its recent history been attacked and invaded”.
How about Switzerland, Sweden, Portugal, Spain and for that matter the Republic of Ireland?
It might also be worth reminding ourselves that within living memory the Channel Islands were occupied by Germany.
