High-wire act

At last we shall be seeing trams in Princes Street. The many posts and wires that have been erected await their arrival.

It seems such a shame that we could not have learnt from the French cities of Bordeaux and Nice, where power for the trams going through the centre of the cities come from underground and not from unsightly posts and wires above ground.

We are spending enough on the trams already, so a bit more to underground the wires wouldn’t have mattered.

Instead, the views in our iconic street, especially to the castle from the corner of Hanover Street, will again be spoiled.
