Help for obesity
Now that there is an obligation to treat obese people as disabled (your report, 20 December) maybe the justices in Europe will now take things to their next logical stage and accord the same rights to alcoholics and junkies.
I am not saying that all obese people are not to be assisted and helped with their affliction, but like the other categories mentioned, many inflict their problem on themselves.
They need help, and rightly so, but this new step seems to suggest that the country should endorse their infliction and spend hundreds of millions on accommodating them rather than spend the money on prevention and assisting them to restore health by abstention etc.
