Heavyweight TV

I REFER to the letters from Ian Johnstone and Robert Drysdale (Telly turkeys, 28 December) regarding Christmas TV.

Having watched parts of the first episodes of Young James Heriot and also Great Expectations, apart from the puerile story on which the former was based, I was struck by the fact that the makers of both programmes seem to be unaware that until quite recently in Britain the poor and deprived were very far from being obese.
