Hard as nails

I don’t know enough about the case of the pay-outs to the female RAF recruits (your report, 25 November) to comment on it, but I do know that Clark Cross’s comment about it (Letters, 27 November) was sexist claptrap.

He writes: “What next? Compensation for breaking a finger nail cleaning an assault rifle?”

How offensive. I would ask if he genuinely thinks women in the armed services have fancy long nails but I no longer care what he thinks.
