Grin and bear it

Ian McLaren (Letters, 5 October) and The Scotsman must be congratulated on having a sense of humour concerning the ongoing saga of “The Trams”. It was a joy to read his letter and for the first time in this sorry tale, I almost laughed out loud at his wee gem.

I was, therefore, disappointed to see that this bit of fun was taken so seriously by Gavin Corbett (Letters, 7th October).

All I can say is that life is too short without a laugh now and then and we just have to grin and bear it.
