Gravy train blues

IThe latest scandal over MPs’ expenses involving Culture Secretary Maria Miller sadly indicates that the gravy train has not been decommissioned, but merely parked in a siding for a while.

Although it is deeply embarrassing to the government, I wonder if Prime Minister David Cameron has spotted the possible upside to this affair?

If ordinary people found guilty of theft or fraud could “draw a line” under their “mistake” by simply saying sorry and returning some of the cash, then think of the time this would save the courts, not to mention the easing of overcrowding in our prisons.
