Goodwill hunting

The letters published in your correspondence pages since 18 September strongly suggest that “Alas poor country, half afraid to know itself” is as true as ever it has been in our turbulent history.

I hope that the First Minister will be successful in her avowed intent to repair this schism, but this will require co-operation and goodwill on the part of every Scot, of which there is little sign at the moment.
