Golf land grab

Readers will be aware that while Tony Blair was prime minister, a sizeable portion of Scotland's waters in the North Sea were quietly transferred to England.

Now it appears that the same thing has happened, without any-one noticing, to an important place on Scotland's mainland.

On Sunday, looking for information on the Senior Open Championship to be held this week, I consulted the World Golf website.

Its headline reads "Senior Open Championship visits two of England's best courses".

It transpires that one of these English courses is Sunningdale and the other, as you probably will have guessed, is Carnoustie.
