Get real on gulls

THE Secretary of the Animal Concern Advice Line badly needs a dose of "get real" pills if he honestly believes that the gull problem in Dumfries is "merely a minor nuisance" (Letters, 25 April).

Every building in Dumfries is covered with gulls' poo, cars are a mess and al fresco dining at the town centre coffee shops is quite simply a no-no. The public are not safe from attack directly or by droppings flying through the air like missiles. The gull population in Dumfries is calling the shots and it's time to cull these critters big time.
