Get fracking
Hundreds of thousands of people in Lancashire have been warned to continue boiling tap water (your report, 11 August). The microscopic bug cryptosporidium was found in the water supply.
It is surprising that the anti-fracking mob did not blame this potential health problem on Cuadrilla’s test drillings for shale gas in the area.
There is sufficient gas in Lancashire and Yorkshire to supply the whole of the UK for 43 years with even more from other regions. Throughout Britain, except Scotland, 60,000 jobs could be created – real, permanent jobs, not the will o’ the wisp foreign jobs created by the subsidised turbine industry.
Shale gas needs no subsidies and would give the UK, except Scotland, energy independence and economic stability.
Let’s get fracking.
