Genius

In your obituary for the late, great John Reed, master of Gilbert and Sullivan roles (17 February), I was somewhat surprised to read he had played "the jester in Ruddigore". The jester is a main character in The Yeomen of the Guard, not Ruddigore (the one where the paintings come alive). However I do agree with the sentiments expressed on the genius of John Reed, who inspired me and many others to love G&S.
