Gender agenda

The Defence Secretary Michael Fallon has announced that women serving in the British armed forces could be allowed to fight in close combat roles from 2016 (Your report, 20 December).

I have no difficulty with that.

He then went on to say that “roles in our armed forces should be determined by ability, not gender”. I have no difficulty with that.

So now would all political parties please scrap females-only candidate lists for prospective MPs and choose the best candidate, regardless of gender, on ability?
